The short answer: a $1,899 Spider Max V3, used daily for three years and then resold at about half its price, costs about 87 cents a day. Before resale it is about $1.73 a day. Keep it longer or pass it down to a younger sibling, and the cost per day keeps falling.

Why we count the cost per day

A play gym is paid for once and then used every day: before breakfast, after school, on rainy weekends, and on the dark 5 p.m. evenings in winter. A price tag tells you what you pay on day one. The cost per day tells you what the gym actually costs over the years your family uses it.

The two numbers behind the math

How long families use it. Families keep a Brainrich gym for anywhere from 3 to 10 years, depending on how many children they have and how old the first one was at the start. Our math uses 3 years, the low end.

What it resells for. Owners who sell usually list at 30% to 50% below the new price, because powder-coated steel still looks close to new after years of daily use. Our math uses 50% below, the low end.

Both choices make the gym look more expensive, not less. If your family keeps it longer or sells it for more, your real cost per day is lower than the table shows.

The math, gym by gym

Gym Price Per day over 3 years, before resale Net cost after ~50% resale Per day over 3 years, after resale
Model T3 $899 $0.82 About $449 About $0.41
Spider V3 $1,499 $1.37 About $749 About $0.68
Spider Max V3 $1,899 $1.73 About $949 About $0.87
Mega Max V3 $2,399 $2.19 About $1,199 About $1.10

3 years = 1,095 days. Worked example for the Spider Max V3: $1,899 price minus about $950 resale leaves $949; $949 ÷ 1,095 days = about $0.87 a day. Prices as listed on brainrichkids.com, October 2026.

If you keep it longer

Most families who keep a gym past three years do it because a younger sibling is still using it. Over 5 years, with the same half-price resale, the Spider Max V3 comes to about 52 cents a day and the Model T3 to about 25 cents a day. Even with no resale at all, a $1,899 gym used daily for 5 years is about $1.04 a day.

A gym costs the same whether one child uses it or three, so with more than one child the cost per child per day is lower still.

What this math leaves out

  • Resale is not guaranteed. What a used gym sells for depends on its condition and on demand where you live. Many families pass theirs to a cousin or a younger sibling instead of selling it, which has value but no cash price.
  • Sales tax, which depends on where you live.
  • Add-ons you buy later as your kids grow. The frames are modular, so you add pieces instead of buying a new gym.
  • Days it isn't used. The math assumes daily use. Owners tell us that is realistic; one mom of three called it "their most used toy by far."
