The quick answer for Michigan: Michigan has no ESA: Article VIII, Section 2 of the state constitution bars aid to nonpublic schools, and the governor had made no decision on the 2027 federal scholarship tax credit when checked. Specialized Medical Equipment and Supplies must be of direct medical or remedial benefit and needs a physician's prescription or certificate of medical necessity, with local or state prior authorization. That is a high bar for play equipment; the request has to rest on documented function. Approval is decided case by case in your child's individual service plan, usually with an OT or PT recommendation attached, and most waivers pay only after regular Medicaid or private insurance has said no. No state approves play equipment automatically. Slots are capped, so get the MichiCANS assessment done early.
